Beautiful aka Lil'Candy Corn

Dreams, Goals, Belief, and hardwork. Beautiful aka Lil'Candy Corn

Hi everyone, squash asked me to write a story for the State Soccer Challenge Championship I did today (Sunday Oct 16th 2005). So here it is. My name is Beautiful but I am also known as Lil'candy corn from WPS. I play for the FC ROYALS 94 BLUE team. For the last three years I have been competing in the WRPA SOCCER CHALLENGE. I am the 2-time state champion, and the state record holder for the 7-8 age group. I was excited this year because I wanted to break the state record for the 9 and 10 year old age group. But unexpectedly I ended up being in the 11 and 12 age group (because they changed the age rules this year). I did not find out untill the actual day the local and regional started. I lost all my confidence after I found out, because I was determined to break the record for my own age group. So I felt really bad and I did not think I was going to win. But looking at those girls who were so much bigger and stronger then me and alot older then me just made me want to beat them more. I didnt care if I set the record or not , I just wanted to WIN. And I did!!! (that was in the summer).

I told one of my coaches Jamie, about the competition, she was so excited for me that I wanted to win even more. She is also a HS coach and told me the other day that she told her team about it so I wanted to win for them too. My coach Jamie gave me the encouragement for me to go all the way. And so that is what my goal was for the state championship. I practiced and practiced and practiced where ever I was, it was all I did; PRACTICE! I refused to let myself down because of the age group I was in. I will not LOSE I kept saying to myself. I am going to walk away a winner because that is what I am practicing for. I had so many friends and family that supported me. And so I was ready for the state championship.

Finally, today came. The state championship was held at the South Sound stadium in Olympia. I was incredibly nervous that I would not do well, my stomach was very full of butterflys. I was glad when it finally started. First I did the long distant kick, and then I did the PKs, and then throw ins, and the last one was speed dribbling with cones. I was not sure of the outcome of everyone else's, but I thought in my mind I had did pretty good. All the girls seemed huge! They came from all over the state. Moses Lake, Longview, Longbeach, and Bellingham I started being nervous when they started announcing the winners for all the age groups. The highest score for all the age groups for boys and girls was 201.5. I was SO happy when they called my name and said that not only did I win 1st place but I got a score of 209.6!!!! I had won and set the state record again!

I know that I would not have won without lots of practice, and the encouragement of my coachs Jamie and her dad, my head coach, John. My teamsmates and all my friends telling me I could do it, and last but not least, Squash motivating me yesterday and all my friends here on WPS!
Beautiful #7 aka Lil' Candy Corn

Beautiful is a player that someday I truly believe will be a star. I have never seen her play, not once. I do however know she practices on her own to be the best player she can be. She sets goals, and continues daily to work towards them. She even private messaged me way back in march or april about private training, but she lives too far away to make it possible. She's exactly the type of player and person I'd train for nothing, because she truly has the desire to be the best at what she does. Keep working hard Beautiful and keep setting goals...you'll definitely always be a SuperStar in my book.
