Sorry for the language above, but I had to share this with our friends on this forum. This is why our country is all messed up. I have a nephew who just finished the grueling task of going through Ranger School for the US Army. He spent three months in this process, lost 25 pounds, got the best training for our Country, to help keep our Country and others safe. Passed, graduated as an airborne Ranger and was finally on an emotional high and returning to his apartment in Fort Bragg, NC. and finds this. These are words from Grandma, but explains all.....
After Jesse's wonderful achievements, he returned to his apartment in Fayetteville, N.C. (just outside Fort Bragg) to find it broken into and all his things were taken. His roommate is in Afghanistan, but is due home in a few weeks. Jesse was absolutely sick, as they took his TV, X Box, lap top, clothes, everything. He has renter insurance and now is trying to get everything taken care of with the police, etc. His neighbors just watched, thinking they were moving out?? Can you believe it?? I feel so bad for him, apparently he has some idea of who it may have been.
We all hope that some good comes out of all of this. Thank you Jesse for your allegiance to your Country and your sacrifice for all.

Karma will get the bad guys! It just makes you wonder though.... Who is protecting the men and women while they are out protecting us ? ? ? ? The neighbors should have gone over there with a baseball bat!

Maybe he can use some of his newly acquired Ranger training when he finds out who was the foolish enough to clean him out...while serving his country.

That is terrible, my daughter is in the Navy in Japan. Last year she was out to sea and someone stoled her laptop. She bought a new one and had it lock in a room on the ship with only 2 other people had keys to the room and some one stoled that one too. They never did anything about it. It is very sad what this world is coming to.

The first time they stole her dirt clothes too, she had the dirt clothes bag with her computer in it and she had it on the floor behind her while she was talking to some friend and someone came right up behind her and took it. We think they must have been watching her. She has bought her 3rd one now and has had it for awhile. I can't believe they can't try to find out who took them, but they didn't even try.

Spent much time around Fayetteville and it is at times a rough area that does have a high crime rate.
This is completely messed-up. But looking through & past this terrible incident this ex USAF Combat Controller would like to congratulate your nephew on getting his Tabs and being Airborne. I know what it takes to achieve what he has and I want to tell him thank you for volunteering, it is you and others like you that make this country great.

Yote As a concerned citizen I share my dismay and anger at the situation you describe. As a military spouse I can probably share a few more things that might help him - if you soon talk with him, suggest: 1. Most military bases have a housing facility that may offer loaner items, usually called starter kits, that he can use until the insurance kicks in. If this is something he is interested in, tell him to contact the base housing coordinator assigned to his command. Just ignore that he is not eligable for family housing - as soon as they hear the situation, I am sure they would help. Although I am Navy connected, there should be something simular to starter kits in his branch. It usually works like barrowing books from the library and its purpose is to hold a military family over with basic items until their household goods shipment arrives from their previous location. I have made use of these kits often. 2. If anything within his belongings that were stolen were military connected - ie military laptop, uniforms, study/training materials and the like, it may be possible to have federal charges added if the thieves are caught. I believe stealing GOV software, DVDs, and the like hold federal penalities. He should speak with the MPs from his command. My brother in law is an MP out of MD and if you hear of any specific questions related to this, I am ask and pass on the info. 3. He can call on the USO to lend a hand as well. Most bases, and many airports have USO representation. 4. Suggest to him that he should call his credit card companies and maybe close down accounts if his financial information was included in the things taken (banking statements with numbers on them and the like). The legal department on his base may be able to offer some advice on this. Really insist that he look into this. The theft could ruin his credit, or put a smear on it somehow. If he takes care of that now, it will help him down the road when he has to get military related security clearences - really important to make sure his financial info is in good order after this theft. All that hard work hes done should be protected where his credit and background info is concerned. Down the road the military wont care that a theft took place as it would be his responsibility to close and clear accounts that get messed up because of theft. Although the miltary does take care of its own, they dont allow for slacking so suggest that he act quickly (I am sure he would anyway). I'll probably think of more things later.

He has every right to be pissed off at having his possessions stolen, but he should have so much pride in graduating Rnager school that it outweighs the negative. Hopefully he gets ahold of the perps before the cops, and just turns over their remains.
