Westcoast, I believe it's double secret probation that SU is on. PCC was a good tourney. Very impressed with Synergy again. They have a good defense. Spokane beat SU on PK's then lost in the finals on PK's. SU had 3 subs this tourney so they could have 12 players on Friday and 14 for the rest of the tourney. Thanks to the guys who helped out with this tournament. Had our own goaltender back for this tourney. Tardis it was good to partake in the good stuff with you and the guys on Saturday. Probably should get a new top 20 list out there before the season starts, wonder where Crossfire Black will be placed?

2010, 2011 Top 20
1, Crossfire Black- Cream of the crop, 1-18 is strong, will be challenged more often this year. 2, WPFC - Gained some very good players, lost very good coach who the kids loved to play for. 3, NWN Red - If a team is going to challenge the top two it should be NWN, better depth, more explosive. 4, Seattle United - For first year team have really played well in tourneys. Are they deep enough? 5, Federal Way - Tough, aggressive very good defense. Will they score? 6, Eastside - An enigma wrapped in a...could be very good as always but haven't done as well in Tourneys. 7, Spokane - Good defense, fast wingers, aggressive and always tough to play in Spokane. 8, Timbers - Could be very good and deserving of a higher rank, but only saw them in glimpses. 9, Synergy - Speedy defenders who can shut down good offenses. Need to score more. 10, GRFC - They're getting better and better as summer progresses. 11, Westsound - Good sound team that will create some tough matchups with forwards. 12, River City - Saw them on a bad so that's why they drop. Smaller team who rely on teammates skill. 13, ECFC - Still have solid nucleus from years past, need a couple more solid players to make impact. 14, NWN Blue - Most improved team in State. They have size, speed and coaching to boot. 15, Chinook Fire - Pretty clueless on the Fire but they always do well in State Tourneys. 16, Crossfire B- Probably should be ranked higher but haven't seen them and there is no buzz about them. 17, Rush - Don't know what to make of Rush, should be better than where I am ranking them. 18, Colibri - Always a better summer tournament team than regular seaon team. 19, Northwest United - Very physical team who will punish you if you show weakness. 20, Harbor - Always a good D2 team and do not know oif they added to squad.
And as always the disclaimer that I kind of just make this stuff up as I go along so don't take it too seriously.
Should be a fun season and let's hope the injuries stay to a minimum.

Squash I wish you were still apart of the age group as well. Your being in this thread lent a lot of credence and validity to it when it first started then it just grew from there. Crossfire really butchered this age group beyond the A team. I wonder who that driveby poster was who started this thread, any ideas Squash?

Just finished reading up on the latest on this thread, the best thread on any forum anywhere. So there are some very enthusiastic cp's very excited about their teams, that's good, but try to keep your feet on the ground. This age group just might be the biggest talent pool in Washington boys soccer right now, the gap is closing all across the group. There are still those top 2-3 teams that will always be difficult to get results from, but there is far more parody this year across the rest of the age group. And really CP's, summer tournaments are treated as full speed training sessions by a good number of coaches, not everyone feels the need to be the winner of every tournament they enter. SW Clark it was great to meet you, wish we could have run up a tab, but tournaments have their time demands don't they? Last of all,I would like to throw some Kudo's to Todd Stauber at PSSA for another well run, well officiated, well set up tournament in Burlington this weekend, Has to be the best venue for tournaments on the west side. P.S. Squash... Get a team and get back in it, you will feel better, and you owe me a scrimmage.

I was talking to some parents over the weekend and we all came to the conclusion that we haven't heard much about how WPFC and Crossfire played this summer. I mean we heard about Crossfire's run at Nationals, but beyond that not much. Did anyone see either of the teams play this summer? Has anyone seen how they did in tournaments this summer? Just curious!! Thanks!

WPFC other than New Mexico and their own tournament at Rainier Challenge took the summer off . Crossfire as well after regionals in NM and Kansas nationals a summer break was neccessary

Thanks Westcoast! I was wondering if that's what they did!! Good for them.
Here comes the first weekend with games. FW Storm has an interesting first weekend with a double header right off the get-go against Crossfire on Saturday and Eastside on Sunday!
Anyone else have any good match-ups to report on?
Good luck to everyone!!

Not so good! I think it was 5 - 0. I will say Crossfire is a very good team and counts on getting set plays to score on. At least three of their goals were on set plays and one of them a PK. They have learned the art of exagerrating a foul and that's too bad because I would like to see them play soccer. We were without our ODP midfielder, which really affected the midfield. The first 20 minutes or so of the game was great. Really fast play and back and forth. But then Crossfire scored and you could see the heads begin to drop. Then they scored a second time and that took the wind from their sails. I think when playing Crossfire they don't make many mistakes and when they do you have to make sure the ball goes into the back of the net. Our boys didn't do that. They had their chances, but didn't finish. The game was very physical. I think there were at least 4 yellow cards issued.
I just hope for a better outcome tomorrow agains Eastside. Quiller, how did you guys do today?

SU won 2-1 in a very close game. I wasn't there so I can't give you the details like you did. Crossfire 96, according to my son, did a great job of controlling the ball at times in the game and had a few chances that were very close to going in. SU also had there chances to score a few more.

Breaking News:
NWN Red 4- Crossfire Black 3
How about that? The report is that the game was very physical, very intense as you would expect. That's two wins in a row for NWN over Crossfire. Nationals were up 4-2 at one point. Nationals scored on two PK's.
It's going to be a fun year and it looks like Hammerfan was right about the quality of the age group (not that we all didn't know that) with the parity showing more and more.
I would love to hear a Crossfire point of view, Bueller, Bueller?

Sure will be nice to go look at all the scores. My DS seems to find them first on Facebook wall. I am sure WYS is very busy and they do an exceptional job but I could complain about one thing! League has now begun and hope to see the bugs worked out.

How about the game against EFC? 5-0 Eastside Is FWU bad or Eastside good? From the top20 prediction, it should not be a 5:0 game.

Yep!
Storm lost their first two with the injury bug attacking the boys with a vengence. Two games in and multilple kids hurt! Yikes! With a positive spin on the matters, things can only go up from here, right?
Wow! NWN beat Crossfire Black! Great job!
I agree, it would be nice if WYSA could have the scores up already, although it's not to fun to look at ours.

To answer your question onetouch, I don't think they are bad, they had three key kids sitting on the sidelines with injuries for the Eastside game. Only one major injury for the Crossfire game!

Mhall, everyone has injuries that is why you have more than 11 player in your roster......so that is not an excuse. First two games both 5-0!!

No excuses!! Just a report! No matter how many players you have on the roster if you have key kids who get hurt it affects the performance on the field. Take the number 1 and number 2 kid off of any team and see how the fair!! Holy smoke, jumping down my throat this early in the season!!!! Yikes!!
Soccerforfun, how many times have you seen them play?

Mhall, don't take it personal, is just that some teams fill the bench just for the team fees and the kids don't have a chance to play. When everyone is healthy is very hard to find those filler kids time to play, you got to hide them somwhere so they wont hurt the team.

The blowout could be the effect of back to back games. Probably many late goals because of tired legs? Were those lucky goals or Eastside has a new offense now? Eastside did not score many goals in the past regardless the opponents. Good luck next week.

Hi Onetouch!
Tired legs should be the farthest excuse this team could use. I have never seen a team train harder. These boys are in really good physical shape. I think it's a little more mental and getting beat by Crossfire to start the weekend and then cascading downhill from there. In my opinion, this team is much better than they showed. They played some great soccer in California against what seemed like very good teams in Ballistic and the Monarchs from Sacramento. Time will tell.

WPFC and Seattle United tied 0-0. Good game, WPFC had the better of it in the 2nd half for sure. They are a good team that plays a really nice style of soccer. By the way Mhall WPFC were missing there two best players for this game (arguably the two best players, they have so many).

I was at the game and really enjoyed it. Good soccer, everyone looked to be doing their best, the reffing seemed to be OK, and it was relatively clean. My kid gets to begin training tomorrow and should be back to playing games in a couple of weeks!
