Hi,
Thanks for your comments. I'm still deciding on a colour scheme for good.
Looking forward to Liverpool v Chelsea. Thinking that it may be the last chance saloon for one of them, especially Liverpool. Benitez seems to have lost the head a little and may not react well to a defeat.

My European club has always been 1860 Munich. Such underachievers in Bundesliga 2 these days.  I am really enjoying the spark that Hull City have brought to the EPL this year. I hope they can regain some of that early form and stay up. |

Tough game, some questionable referee calls (Lampard didn't deserve the red, but the cleats in the back in the corner should have been an automatic ejection). But the Reds had the better quality opportunities. Reyna wasn't busy at all, Cech had a so-so game. Final 2-0 Liverpool over Chelsea, fair result. |

Good call FiR,
I agree that Liverpool deserved to win. Chelsea have been poor against their title rivals and even before minute 58, weren't threatening. Liverpool don't strike me as Champions just yet but clearly they are finally heading in an upwards direction.
2-0 - a fair result.

From the angle the ref saw the Lampard challenge (form behind Lampard) he couldn't have seen the contact with the ball. From that angle it looked like a two footed studs up challenge, a sending off in my book.
The foot in the back was also a clear cut red, but I am sure 2 sendings off in this match wouldn't have been popular.
Although 3 Card Monte, Graham Poll, doesn't agree with me, lol.

It will be interesting to see if the FA Have any thing in store for Mr. Boswinga. Should be at least a three match ban, but might be more, that was a nasty piece of work. Looks like Torres is back, they missed him badly. He is very strong
up front, plays with style and power, great finisher. Hopefully they can keep the pressure on Manyoo to keep it interesting
for the rest of the season. Good job Hammers keeping Arsenal at bay.
As far as Lampards Card, Studs up tackle at knee height? Always a red.

Since the foul was seen by a match official, Mo Matadar, The assistant on that side. (you might
have seen him frantically waving for a foul). And Mike Riley chose not to make a call (pretty
wierd for a guy who hands out cards like candy). FIFA rules state that the FA cannot take disciplinary action when incidents are seen by match officials. I did not know that.
What a finish to that game though, the Kops' singing made my hair stand on end !!

Thanks for explaining the Arshavin deal. When I hadn't seen it on the Transfer list last night, I thought that the deal was dead.
Arshavin is a quality player, he tore my team (Rangers) apart in the UEFA cup. I think it is an excellent move on Arsenal's part.

It's a great move and one hopes he turns out to be more of a fit than Alexander Hleb was. If anything, Arsenal should be even more exciting to watch, and I think they got him fairly cheaply, given his potential.
I also think it's the first real benefit of the new stadium. Finally they have money to compete financially at the top level. This has got to be in part to do with the increased revenue derived from the higher capacity at the Emirates.

I think that this is a crutial point, The Executive Boxes at the Emirates are on a 3 year lease and are up for renewal this year. If Arsenal don't make it into Champions League Football, and given the current cut backs that most companies are going through, it might be become a serious problem. (It might be hard to sell seats based on UEFA or Europa Cup-I think that's the new name) I think that the debt structure of Arsenal is firmly structure around Arsenal being a top 4 club. |

I don't think there's any way they've been as stupid as Leeds were. Yes they make more money out of the CL, but I just don't see that this club would stake their entire financial security on something as perilous as a league position.
But the stadium move has certainly given Spurs and Chelsea something to think about.

Here's what Peter Hill-Wood Chairman of Arsenal said on the matter, I guess 1 year wouldn't sink Arsenal, but would 2? The question being with Man City trying to buy it's way into a 4th place spot one or two other clubs which could squeeze out one of the other big 4 teams, the top of the table seems less set in stone.

But Hill-Wood, whose dynasty has run Arsenal for most of the last 80 years, last night insisted there would be NO financial apocalypse and NO ramifications for paying off the mortgage on the club's £360m Emirates Stadium.
The club, which made a £36.7m profit last season, need to sustain £20m-ayear repayments over 23 years to cover the £250m bonds issue which financed the project.
Hill-Wood said: "There is no denying that it would be a real financial drain on the club if we didn't qualify for the Champions League next season.
"Even if we were in the UEFA Cup and enjoyed a long run in Europe, that would not come close to making up the shortfall.
"But although missing out on the Champions League for one year would be a big disappointment, it would not mean financial armageddon for Arsenal.
"When we worked out the budget, and did our fund-raising calculations in respect of the new stadium, we did not assume we were going to be in the Champions League every season.
"That may be an assumption at other clubs, and it's not for me to comment on the way they are run, but we did not want to get out of our depth in terms of paying our bills.

I think arshavin will do well at arsenal he fits their mold, but they need a strong midfielder (Viera Type) having denilson and fabergas in there isnt going to cut it they arent the hard nosed type of player to get the team up for those big battles. Also im glad to see Keane signed on at Spurs again he needs to play and will do well back at the Lane.

Since not everyone has time each week to know what games are played each day for EPL, do you think you could either post them or give us a link every saturday or even better friday night to the match-ups? I have to say that I love the fact someone is keeping track and giving recaps of the games locally. It gets old reading fox and the other big networks with their drone like write-ups.
