Washington Youth Soccer provides "ball kids" for Sounders FC

They surround the field at turf level and scramble to get the soccer ball when it goes out of bounds. They are the ball kids who are needed at the big soccer events to keep the match flowing and get the ball back in to the players. Seattle Sounders FC had the task of finding twelve ball kids  for each of eighteen home matches in the 2009 season. The club turned to Washington Youth Soccer and office manager Brenda Heintz to put together the ball kid 'teams.'

Last night at Qwest Field Olympic Development Program '94 girls (Washington) had a 'dress rehearsal' just like the Sounders did. (The '94 stands for the year this group were born, making the girls around 15 years old). They went through the steps of the pregame ceremonies and stood ready on the sidelines. Up in the stands the parents of ODP '94 girls also go a first, exclusive glimpse of Sounders FC and Qwest Field. (Thanks to a parent for these photos from last night).
