WASHINGTON PREMIER SOCCER'S ~ THE PULSE! #72 HEADLINES In FtB's first headline story he would like to say farewell again to Dragon you know who. The reason I came here to WPS in the first place was because of you and hope that we can coexist someday here on the forum. Thank you for all 20,000 posts you did. A lot made me laugh, some made me think, and most I enjoyed. Will never be able to put into words all you did. Once again, thank you.
The pulse lives again! With the help of several other PP's, FtB is proud to present the pulse again. It is not the same as the old pulse, and I am a little scared to make it any bigger. It is hard just to get some people to write an article just for once a month. I will never know how Dragon you know who and Bratjr did one every week. Kudo's though to both of them and I hope FtB will carry on your tradition and not make either of you disappointed. The totals right now stand like this:
Dragon you know who 54 PULSES Bratjr 17 PULSES Frank the Bunny 1 PULSE FtB looks forward to the day when he eclipses both of your records and hopes to do it at least 1/2 as well!
State cup is in full motion and this is FtB's favorite time of year along with the US cup in the fall. I just love tournys that pit a bunch of teams together and the best for that time rises to the top. I hope you are all enjoying it as much as I and I believe each of our 'age group' writers will focus a lot this month on the state cup. I have never had the good fortune to watch my bunnies play in a state cup final but after watching one I know it is a special thing and I wish every one could do that at least once. Sit back and enjoy the rest of state cup, and this month's pulse! GOLDEN GLOVE/BOOT WINNERS First of all, FtB has to appologize to everyone. I had all the entries printed out and lost them. Had selected the winners, but did not save their write ups that came with the nominations. Everyone will have to take FtB's word that these winners were very deserving. Next time I will save the write ups to say why they won. Great job to the winners of week 1 and 2.

Here's the breakdown of the point system: Championship cup: Champion: 14 Finalist: 13 Semi-finalist: 12 Quarter Finalist: 10 Elimination round: 3 Challenge cup Champion: 6 Finalist: 5 Semi-finalist: 4 Quarter finalist: 2
And remember for challenge cup points to count the club must have a team in the championship cup.
Clubs with the most points: ECFC: 10 points Harbor: 10 points Crossfire: 10 points NWN: 10 points FCV: 7 points Timbers: 3 points Snohomish: 3 points Sun City: 3 points WPFC: 3 points CB united: 3 points Eastside: 3 points Dos: 3 points
That list is fine, however certain clubs have the chance to max out with more then others becuase they have teams alive in the challenge cup. So here is the max points each of these clubs can earn in the next round.
ECFC, Timbers, Snohomish, WPFC, Eastside, Crossfire, Dos, and FCV can all max out with 20 points with winning both cups.
Sun City, Harbor, NWN, and CB united all can max ut at 14 points.
Good luck everyone.
On to the second part, a great poster also asked me to recap my thoughts of the two state cups right now. So lets start with the Championship cup:
group A: 1. ECFC Green 2. Timbers red 3. PPFC 4. NWU This group wasn't to much of a surprise. Perhaps the biggest surprise was the fact Timbers tied PPFC. Put quite a scare in the Timber girls, however this could also be a wake up call to them. Hats off to PPFC for staying competitive and putting up a great fight. Also good job to ECFC for really taking hold of this groupa and earning that bye.
Group B: 1. Snohomish 2. Sun City 3. SSFC 4. HPFC This was a very competitive group with lots of ties. Great job SSFC for pushing those PDL bullies. They were so close to slipping out of his group. Sun city slips into that second seed. Probably one of the most competitive but how far will the teams out of this group really go? who knows.
Group C: 1. Harbor 2. WPFC 3. Reign 4. Whatcom Group of Death hands down. Its to bad for Reign and Whatcom, in any other group they would have had a legitamate shot at getting through pool play. But thanks to Reign we had an exciting mid game week to watch. Good luck to WPFC traveling down south, and great job by the always state cup ready Harbor girls as you earned yourselves a bye.
Group D: 1. NWN red 2. CB united 3. Westsound 4. Evergreen I was so happy to see a non PDL team make it through so thank you CB united. You girls fought well and we will all be cheering for you. NWN is still looking strong like always. Westsound played a bit better then I was expecting after pool play. However,Evergreen, why didn't you petition to move to the challenge cup? you struggled against eastside white, timbers blue, WSA united all year atleast there you would have had a good chance of making it out of pool play. Maybe that was the clubs decision? if so to bad.
Group E: 1. Eastside red 2. Glory 3. FCA gold 4. FCSC Nemesis This group started off with a bang and a tie between eastside red and Glory. From that point on it was whoever could rack up the most points to take first. fCA put up less of a fight then I was expecting. I wish Nemesis could have done the same thing I asked of Evergreen. They would have fit in much better in challenge cup.
Group F: 1. Crossfire barton 2. Dos red 3. Crossfire black 4. Synergy This group went pretty much by the book except for the surprising tie between Dos and Crossfire. Wow that shocked me. However, by tying crossfire really hurt their black team which they could have helped move through. All the other games were as to be expected. However, you can't complain about where you finish if you don't win a game. Dos got lucky with 3 ties, but if you don't win I can't promise you a spot.
Challenge cup:
Group A: 1. FCV United 2. Saprissa 3. Eastside blue 4. Reign white Closer games then I was expected for sure. FCV was supposed to win and won themselves a bye. Eastside blue did a great job of battling to the very end.
Group B: 1. Crush 2. Arsenal 3. GRFC 4. ECFC blue Crush took this one home after shocking us by not doing the championship cup. However, after looking at the scores so far it seems they made the right decision for their team. Arsenal did what was needed to move on, and no surprise in this group either.
Group C: 1. Eastside white 2. FC shoreline 3. Crossfre red 4. Evergreen white No surprise in eastside winning this group, but Crossfire red not moving on? that was surprising. Great job to shoreline you ladies earned it. You got a tough game coming up so don't forget what it took to get there.
Group D: 1. Timbers blue 2. Crossfire white 3. Roadrunners 4. Westsound black Another group with no surprises. The biggest one was the Timbers tying Crossfire at the end. However, they still take first in the group. Crossfire white moves on even though their 3rd team is out.
Group E: 1. WPFC white 2. Snohomish red 3. HPFC red 4. NWN select I thought snohomish might win this one, but WPFC seems to be peeking at the right now. They earned this group and hopefully will keep growing.
Group F: 1. Cascade FC 2. Blackhills 3. NWN blue 4. CB united white Cascade is the only dominate looking non PDL team thus far in this cup. They really took care of business and earned a bye for their hard work, Great job ladies. Blackhills takes down NWN to move on also.
Group G: ECFC white, Dos white, Sun city, FCA white Exactly as I would have planned this group. There was definately a line between the top and bottom two teams. ECFC is the better technical team so they earned that first place spot.
Good luck to all the young ladies in both cups and play with some great HEART and FIRE.GU13 - Blinded by the light - by Morroco Mole Morocco’s G95 Review Here is my monthly report of the goings on in the Girls 95 age group. Mountians and Mole hills… Mountians and Mole hills is a series of articles put together by Morocco’s network of hairless ninja moles. This week we will take a look at the Current 95 state champs ECFC 95 Green girls: This team has looked fantastic at times, but also has looked not too good other times. It was hard to tell which of these teams would show up any given weekend. The team was not exactly firing on all cylinders the few weeks prior to the start of the Championship Cup, looking very shaky and getting beat by Eastside Red 4-0 and then by NWN 3-0. Worse yet the team has been struggling with the flu bug having approximately 1/3 of the team sick at any given time.
With all these struggles, the girls are fighting to defend their title. In their first game of state cup they beat PPFC 3-0. Next game was against Eastside Red (many peoples favorite to win it all). ECFC has so few subs that one of the two keepers was asked to play the game in the field. The girls played hard and did well under the circumstances, but lost a tough game 1-0. Next was 3-Rivers. ECFC needed to get a tie or win to advance, and even though ECFC had many chances to score the ending score was 0-0. The good news is the team gets to advance to the Elimination Round. The bad news is the lack of scoring. The next two opponents will be Reign Purple and Xfire Thomas, so if the team doesn't figure out a way to put some points on the board it may be an early exit for the defending champs. However, ECFC matches up well with these teams and if they are on their game, they like their chances to advance to the semi-final. The semi will likely be a team like DOS, Whatcom, CB-United, or FCV Courage. Team has the talent to go all the way - they just need to get it together before 4/ 18. Time will tell.
A big thumbs up for the following ECFC 95 Green players for making the 96 ODP team: Mary Ann, Amber, Mia, Linnea, and Alissa! Another thumbs up to Kassi for making the 95 ODP team. A former 95 Green player, Darby, who is now playing for the 94 Green team has also made the 95 ODP team. Great job girls! Thank you my hairless ninja for your thorough report. MM
My next mole hill comes from my albino shrew in the WPFC 95 Black camp, who reports: WPFC 95 Black 3-0-0 in Championship Cup bracket play with 12 goals for and 1 against, defeating Sun City Strikers, Reign Purple and Westsound. WPFC 95 Black prepares to play NWN 95 Red in eliminations 4/18, time TBA @ WPFC fields. Sure to be a battle. Tryouts for next season are projected to begin 5/15/09. Thank you so much for your report. MM
95 NEWS FLASH!!! Hold on to your maracas… It appears that not all of the U13 Championship bracket winners have been determined yet. My side line shrew reports: Evidently Snohomish is protesting the length of the final Division “B” bracket game. MRFC scored 2 goals in stoppage time. Snohomish was leading 2-1 at the end of regulation, but the referee added time. There were no stoppages of play in the 2nd half, so no reason to add any time. 3 minutes into added time a free kick is awarded to MRFC. They score to tie the game. Play continues. 6 minutes!! into added time a PK is awarded to MRFC, who scores to win. Game whistle was blown while the ball was in the net. Game over, Snohomish is eliminated. With the loss it knocks Snohomish out. Apparently the protest is in the State's hands and it should be resolved in 7 days. Yikes that’s a real eye opener!!! (Mole humor) This concludes my report I’ll come up again in another month and take another whack at it, thank you to my mole and shrew reporters for you help. MoroccoGU14 - The Fox's Den - by Fox MulderThe first weekend of State Cup brought a number of huge upsets. Blackhills not only beat Eastside but likely knocked them out of the whole tournament. NWN Red crushes SSFC turning their bracket upside down. Pacific Premier beat Timbers and changed the layout of the tournament. Instead of facing Pacific Premier GRFC now faces Timbers in the first elimination round while PPFC plays the second place team out of the weakest bracket. While Crossfire Porter and Harbor tied Harbor looks to be the favorite to win the bracket. NWN takes first and will be rewarded for winning its tough bracket by having to face the state champs in the elimination round. Dos and Nemesis are both out with Eastside, HPFC Both needing miracles to move on. In an effort to insure the state cup stays on the west side of the mountains this reporter has heard rumor of some strange backroom dealings. At U-14 Snohomish Black has already locked up their bracket. Saturday the 18th they play Eastside who needs help to get out of bracket. Do not be surprised to see Snohomish put out some bizarre formations which just might let Eastside pull out a much needed 3-0 win. The state went against their own tournament rules and forced FC Vancouver to reschedule with SSFC. FC Vancouver made it perfectly clear that they would not still have enough players to field a team and might not even be able to get a field to play on. By regional rules state cup has priority over regional league. Spokane Sabres are considering a protest as tournament rules were not followed and now FC Vancouver is not playing for anything and without its complete team. Sabres feel it took away any chance of a Vancouver upset that could push them though. What side of the mountains are the Sabres from again? FtB feels the only thing that would make the 'What's hoppin'ing' sections better is to have writers for GU15's or older, and of course would be nice to have any boy team writers.
