How do you know if you are ignoring properly if you were supposed to be ignoring from the get go???
This is sort of like: "How do you know where you're going, if you're really nowhere at all??!" To be ignored, you must be officially evaluated by the moderator and then found able to ignore. Ignoring would be any poster that is actually willing to ignore: as one would have to be crazy to ignore any post labeled; "ignore this post". But the "problem" is that to be declared "ignorable", you must first look to see what it is that needs to be ignored, which is considered as a sufficient proof for being declared "able to ignore". These conditions make being declared "ignored" impossible. The "Catch 22" is that "anyone who wants to ignore this post, isn't really able to ignore it without first reading it, thereby not ignoring it at all". Hence, posters who look to see what post it is they are to ignore (are sane, and therefore) must pretend to ignore. And at the same time, if an evaluation is not requested by the poster, he will never receive one (i.e. they can never be found "ignorable") meaning, he must also ignore this post. Catch-22, then, ensures that no poster can ever ignore this post - even if they were saying they had ignored it. |

I'd forgotten about it, which is NOT the same as ignoring it. To ignore something, one must be made aware of its existence. So, thanks for the reminder. I'll go back to ignoring it now.
