Had an interesting conversation about whether some of the serious partisanship, comments, and actions against President Obama is worse or easier than those against Bush. Had a pretty evenly divided group. Ironically differences of opinion did not fall along political lines. While not a big Bush fan I do not think that the comments against Obama are worse than those against Bush. My democratic colleague disagreed rather enthusiastically. The Republicans in the group also split along these lines. Curious what others think. Looked up some of comments that were levied against Bush during some of his difficulties and compared them to what Obama is getting. Personally the vehemence by those talking don't seem to be that different.

BBD, while I am a more conservative political person - with extremely strong libertarian leanings - I have to say that it is very clear to me that President Bush was treated much worse than President Obama has been.  And that is by all segments, politicians, print media, TV "journalists" and everyone else.   There has been such a disparity that I am surprised you even ask the question.

Partisanship is a non issue, a red herring if you will.  Republicans are outnumbered in both the house and the senate.  The republicans can't stop anything with a 100% party line vote.  That is what is so amusing and frustrating when the democrats in congress bring it up the subject of partisanship.  The animosity toward President Bush was by far greater.  The difference is the treatment of these stories by the media.  With Bush they (the media) agreed when Harry Reid and others called him names but when it is directed toward Obama the media villifies that person and makes a big deal out of it.  That is the difference.
