Hello everyone,
Just thought I'd check in after my son has graduated from youth soccer onto other things.
He's now doing crew at college -- getting up at 5 am, crashing at 9 pm. It's a completely different team sport that requires 8 rowers and 1 coxswain to work together to finish a race -- in the teamwork respect it does have something in concert with quality soccer. He's got his cleats with him, but seems the most use they see is an occasional free afternoon kicking 50 yd field goals for fun. So what did Youth Soccer provide him? A lot of good memories and quality experiences.
What is your "graduate" doing?
Good stuff,
I am always worried if we made the right choice for the kids. The kids like sports but some of the things we give up when they compete at a high level. Camping, Hiking, Hunting, Family Vacations, Impromptu get aways, Church, Family Dinners around the table, Discretionary Spending.
The kids enjoyed sports, but I always left thinking........
