I have watched the Tides and Pumas play. No disrespect to the tides, but the pumas played some really nice soccer. I mean, pass, move, support and then top it off by scoring goals.

Pete has then playing a back four like it should be played.

Don't these clubs rely on college players who are not out of school yet for their rosters?

Some do. With others those players will arrive later and supplement the locals.

In the case of the Kitsap Pumas, they are a pro club and they pay their players, so the roster has former and future Sounders, MLS talent, and graduated talent. Vancouver Whitecaps also pay their players, who are part of a residency program.
It's not a 'fair' system, but until Kitsap moves up to USL-2 (hopefully 2011), that's the way it is.

Washington Crossfire will also have former Sounder Kevin Forrest, and plenty of Xfire boys home from college. However, they remain amateur.

Yes, Kitsap is the favorite. They should be. It will be interesting to see if they run the table, and to see how far they go in the playoffs. Also, US Open Cup?

Both Crossfire and Tacoma have gone through changes with ownership and coaching, respectively. Should be great soccer to watch these next few months. Perhaps certain players will show their talent (think pro prospects) in this competitive arena. Smiley

Kitsap, Tacoma renew Narrows Bridge Bell derby Saturday night in Bremerton

One of the biggest matches of the year in Puget Sound soccer takes place this Saturday night in Bremerton when the Kitsap Pumas and Tacoma Tide FC renew their rivalry in the first leg of the Narrows Bridge Bell derby.

Looks like Gerry Gray/Mike Jennings have put together some nice college talent on their team. Hopefully they will  play together as a team soon, since their first gamethis weekend might be their toughest. Let's see...Kitsap has been playing together well over a month. The Tides got their new players this week.  I think the second game will be a very good game.  Should be some great PDL soccer this season.

Where's the Crossfire roster?Huh?

Where's the Crossfire roster?Huh?

Good question!

I know of two: Alex Klein and Kevin Forrest.

I guess they will release it today / tomorrow..as they do have to do that before they can play a match. Washington kicks off this Saturday at 2:30 PM in Portland against the Timbers U23's.

Where is the news on the NSSL?

Start a thread on it. I'll do my best.  angel

I have interview questions in with the league, but they are slow to return them. Basically it appears to be a  low-cost alternative league with Hispanic operators that is an alternative to the USL PDL and the NPSL.

What a stupid thread, after one game played and Duff was not even at the game. I would like to know the reason and history behinid why Duff and others use this site to insult Crossfire.  I know a few of the guys on the roster and they are strong players.  I also know they will be adding a player or two with some real speed to the roster from colleges that are late ending classes.

Thanks for the kind words duf  :Smiley  So I did what you said and looked at the board members and the roster. I see only two names that coincide; James and Hopp. Both players are on Division I UW's program. I have never seen James play, but I have seen Hopp in goal and on the field - and he is very good. So, I think your full of hot air. I think Crossfire has the Kitsap Pumas coming up, and Pete Fewing has that team playing fantastic. It will be a tougher squad than the Portland one, so we will see how they perform.

yes thats a good start now look deeper and you will see klien behind the crossfire board pulling the real strings and yes both LOL all three kids play for the UW hopp will see Zero minutes in the goal for the UW james will see some klien will see very few but all are not starters and spedal while at the Uw recruited 0 of theses players LOL but now starts them You ill adviced your making excuses already before they even play a proprly coached team and I will tell you this If spedal could play who he wanted to he would not be starting or playing any of the three named thats a fact he would fail any lie detector test if asked
