Recent scores:

Portland 9:0 Spokane

Abbotsford 0:6 Washington Crossfire

Vancouver 3:4 Washington Crossfire

UW's Brent Richards scores 4 goals against Spokane, Portland's Ryan Luke (Bothell) scores four against Abbey.

http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-413-Seattle-Soccer-Examiner~y2010m7d3-UW-Husky-Brent-Richards-scores-four-goals-as-Timbers-U23s-destroy-Spokane-90

Not to disrespect this league but I'm not sure the level is higher than college in fact I'd say it's a step lower with most of the teams in the league. You show me the last time those two scored 4 in a college game.....I'm only guessing but i don't think they have. Oh and with that said, I think Luke and Richards are both very good players, just not sold on this league overall.

The talent level in the PDL NW is the best it has ever been, but unfortunately for Yakima and Spokane, it isn't spread around very well.

The top four could beat any college club, but the rest are just OK, and the last 2-3 are pretty bad.

It's a great league and well-worth turning out to a match for.

I agree though that the Spokane defense is nowhere near as good as any of the defenses Richards will see this fall in the Pac-10.

Duffer will love this email I got from a fan who went to the match:

Add to the lack of a Canadian flag; last night there were no ball boys.  The match was twice delayed because all the balls had been kicked outside the fence and had not been retrieved.
One of the Portland players commented "this is a bad organization."  A Crossfire player replied "Yes, thank you."

I agree. The league is just not that good.  I also have my doubts the top teams could consistently compete with Division I school teams.  The stats are inflated against poor defenses. Crossfire for example, has scored only four goals against the four teams above them in the standings, but an incredible 27 goals against the four teams below them.
