If the United States wants to be a leader instead of a follower, it would be wise for the MLS to implement Video Reply Technology. Each coach could elect to use the new rule once or twice per half at their discretion. The ref review would have to amke a decision to keep or overturn within 30 seconds. If the MLS is not willing to do this, they should at least implement goal line technology like the NHL. When the ball crosses the line a red light goes off. This will certainly take nothing away from the game. How many more games is the world going to witness the refs upholding the wrong calls? Some national teams being wronged in the last year- Ireland, USA, England, Mexico, etc.

I'm not sure I'm for the NFL coach red flag approach to the game.  But having said this, not sure why the fourth official  can't review any specific calls in question (not fouls though) and communicate to the center.  It is an interesting suggestion and I agree that the US is a great place to try it if we can keep it simple.

Can MLS do this without FIFA's approval?

Changes to the game come from the top (FIFA) down; not from the bottom up.

Imaging if your family life was dictated by the decisions that were made by your children.

While I would agree that some type of goal line technology is necessary.  I would argue against using any type of replay system for judgemental calls (offside).  I do belive that video should be used to confirm or kick back yellow and/or redcards that have been issued(as far as length of suspencions).  Implementing the system would just open up another can of worms.  At what time would you stop play to address a questionable call.

In the England game, when would have been the right time to stop the play?  I believe that Germany started a quick counter attack on the punt by the keeper.  Where would we be if as whistle is been blown Germany takes a shot that is clearly going into the net for a goal; to verify if the previous England shot had indeed crossed the goal line in the first place?

Instead of one problem, we would now have two problems.

Hope fully FIFA will come up with a plan post World Cup that will be satisfactory to us all..........

5th & 6th official at the goal line to call goals and maybe help with goal kicks/corner kicks, hand balls, keep it simple.

Why is everyone scared of goal line technology? This will not slow down the game and in fact will make the game more fair. Look at all the stoppage time for player's down. Perhaps the technology would be used inside the 10 yard line and the goalie line and box.

would like to see the extra goal line officials but am not sold on goal line tech and don't like replays because I don't want the game to stop unnessesarily any more than it does now.
