The NPSL, USL/PDL and PCSL are all possible models, but the idea would be that it would be locally run, cheaper to run, and would allow for clubs in all sorts of towns...

What kind of clubs? Adult amateur / semipro / pro with tickets sold at the gate and club websites, etc.

Washington State.

IDEAS?

Resources...

www.LigaHispana.com
www.NationalPremierSoccerLeague.com

Something similar to the NPSL, but run locally, or perhaps an entire Washington State NPSL division with a national playoff endgame.

Clubs would be similar to the PDL ones we have now (KItsap, Tacoma, etc.) but would rely on local adult talent more than college guys home for the summer.

A 'regional pub league?' maybe to start with, but what might it become over time?

Of the four leagues you mentioned,

One is not affiliated, one is based in Canada and one calls itself a national entity, but doesn't have a strong pressense in Washington.

One league, League, Liga Hispana does have a pressense in the state.

There are other leagues with a pressense as well: the Starfire League (adult league with two divisions), a league in Everett called SCASA and San Carlos in Skagit County.

Why create something new?  Why not work to get all those leagues working together to create what you are looking for in our state.  A state champion among adult amatuers......

Good ideas.

Maybe some clubs in those leagues might want to join a new one. Sure it is a pipe dream, but why not take a puff?  Grin

League would run during 'world calendar' for football (August-May), would try not to be too Seattle-centric. Could draw from the leagues above or even the GSSL.

In a way, this idea is as much for the budding wannabe football club owner as it is for the players. Sort of a 'fantasy league' come to life at an affordable level.

I like your idea of create on the adult level what we have on a youth level.

My concern is that of a referee.

As referees, we can only referee games that involved with leagues that are affilliated with USSF.

Also with the leagues that you use as examples, they range in levels of play.  Which means that a specific level of referee would need to work the level of games that are being proposed here.

I do like the idea; just don't forget to incorporate the referee issue as well.....

Two things -

One is that there is the National Star Soccer League that is already functioning in the state that sounds like it fulfills many of the objectives laid out.

As per referees, the Indoor Pro and Semi-Pro leagues got real soccer refs, so there is no reason that Referees (who are private contractors) cannot do those as well as "real" USSF style matches.

Not sure how long that league will last, but certainly joining it and creating a 'state division' isn't a bad idea.

I emailed them awhile back, and they made brief contact, but then havenot returned any futher emails. Perhaps there is a language barrier (Spanish / English).

I was just told that something like this was around in the mid-1980's, called the NW City League. Anyone know more?

Quote
"Back in 1985-87 there was the NW City League. We had teams in Bellingham, Everett, Seattle, Renton, Auburn/Kent, Federal Way, Tacoma and Olympia. As Olympia FC we played in 1986 and 1987. Things fell apart after that season. It would be kind of cool to see something like it again. Kasey even played 1 game with us in 1985 as we were trying to get "approved" by the FC Seattle brass to play in the league..."
