Here's a lovely one I got second hand ( but reliably) from a CP. U 10 no less. If true makes even an old snake like me cringe. A U 10 player agrees to guest on a Pacific FC team for LO tourney. Practices with the team etc. Then a coach from FCSC asks player to guest on her (I think) U 12. This coach allegedly tells her (and parents presumably) that it is OK to play on 2 teams since it a different age group. FCSC coach also has a U10 team competing against the Pacific team. U 12 team does not qualify for Sunday so FCSC coach then allegedly self reports a rule violation (player on 2 teams) DQ ing her U12 team and interestingly the U10 team her U10 was competing with. FCSC team moves on. Anyone know more about this? I take it all with a grain but jeeze! Speaking of FCSC. Has anyone watched the 98 Nemesis team? I would hate to hear what he says to the girls that can't be heard across the field. He SCREAMS at his players the entire game. How about this one shouted so loud every parent and player could hear, "If you miss that one more time I am yanking your butt. You killed is with that last time we lost to them and you are not going to do that again!" In a 6-2 loss, he ran through 3 keepers and the first one he pulled had ZERO chance on the 1st two goals but pulled her then. WOW- SB if that is ALL true that is horrible. - Actually if any this is true that is really awful. Not at all good for FCSC which I thought was turning a corner with the new doc. Now assuming you both are talking about the u12 team which if my math is right would be the 98's. SO is this all from the same team? IDK who that coach is. I have no idea who has u12. I do know the doc at FCSC and he's not about to stand for anything unethical. I think that the PFC coach should file a complaint about it-assuming this is true - I don't care if the coach is David Beckham- anyone with those ethics has no business working with kids. That said I will add that my DD is now with FCSC and it's been good. I was concerned because we'd had bad experiences with the parents on the sidelines and had heard negative things about the previous doc. I even got some unsolicited pms about the club. So far so good for us - DD is happy and it is different for sure but in a good way. I didn't think there was much difference between premier and select. DD has been on what are considered top select teams and I don't believe she's on a top 'premier' team. I will say there is a difference. It might just be my kid- but it's different. SB you know me and I'm not a CP that thinks her DD is 'all that and a bag o chips'. It was her choice where she plays- I just drive the car and write the checks. All that said SB- she's just dying to scrimmage. I thought it was odd at Lake Oswego that we didn't need to turn in player cards- couldn't that have avoided this? I mean all they asked for was a roster. SOme clubs had two teams playing in different brackets- with the same coaches- who knows if they moved players around between those teams? I mean if your A team misses out and your B team moves on would a coach be tempted to 'move' a player? I mean it's with in the club right? We've seen and heard of worse things right? Sara, Not bashing SC (there are plenty of others who do that here). Glad to hear Gojo #55 is having fun and doing well.

I was at this game and I did hear the coach yell, but not what you quote there. I know it can't be true as both of his keepers were not at the game when they last played that team. Second, the team only has two keepers. The third keeper he "ran through" was the original keeper going back in to finish the game. I didn't think you were a negative person, but I'll tell you that I've watched this coach over the past 10 years and you should see how much he yells and screams when the team is winning and playing well. Hell, I've even had some beers with the guy a couple of times and he's loud as hell in the pub! He's a good guy, a good coach, with a great team and he's done a good job in getting those kids to play well. We all have different styles..why bash someone when he's not even present to defend himself. I apologize if I was wrong about the keepers. There were numerous goalie changes and not knowing the players, I made an incorrect assumption. As for the quote which happened early in the first, I am dead on. Four of us looked at each and asked if we heard that right and compared. Even my daughter asked me after the game if I had heard this and repeated the exact words. I am all for different styles, and his is definitely loud. But loud and negative is wrong. A comment like that and a few others I have heard from him in the last two meetings only serves to single out and humiliate a player in front of everyone. You may have beers with him, and he may be a great guy, but that is not appropriate when dealing with 11-12 year old girls. Just my opinion.

Switchit...Having an opinion is absolutely okay and is encouraged, but when you miss quote a coach in order to make an over exagerated point is pretty low. I too was at this game and I heard exactly what he said to his player and that wasn't it. He did say that he would pull her out if she continued to make the same mistakes, but he NEVER said he would "Yank her butt." Was he loud at the game? Yes, and probably should and could have handled himself better in that game and probably let his emotions get the better of him watching his team go from down 2-1 at halftime to losing 6-2. My daughter has played for this coach for about 3-1/2 years now ever since the SCSC PDP Program was set in place and one thing I know for sure is that he loves these kids. He has poured alot of time, energy, and resources in the development of this team and my daughter and for that I greatful. I encourage you to talk and ask any of his players/parents if any of them are unhappy and you'll be surprised at the answer. This coach has retained all of his players from last year and added to it. That's gotta say something. One can understand why your opinion of him is negative, since both meetings involving him haven't been to your liking, but you've seen him a couple times and I've been around him a few years. I encourage your opinions and love reading your posts, but please only print what is fact, not paraphrasing with bold comments that were not said to make your point more dramatic than what it really was... By the way...the coach did address his behavior and demeanor to his players and apologized for it.

By the way...the coach did address his behavior and demeanor to his players and apologized for it. It's a club culture thing, and one of two very big reasons why, try as they might, FCSC will never be a premier soccer organisation. The way the coaches conduct themselves gets old over time, especially when we are talking about coaching young ladies. Eventually they tire of the yelling. Ask V how the 94's are compared to when they were U12. Where are those players now? They do have coaches that conduct themselves in a proper manner, and those teams are exactly what they are, very nice select teams. Does that mean you have to be an ass to breed a winner? No, but being an ass will make even winning get old.

I was surprised when she said she wanted to tryout for this team- having fun and doing well is the main thing and she's had fun everywhere she's been. My point just was that I had heard so much negative stuff and even experienced some of it, that I was more than a little worried about this. So far our experiences with each and every team has been positive. The bottom line is everyone wants what is best for their DKs and the coaches wouldn't be coaching if they didn't love the kids and the parents and the game.

I reconfirmed with someone near me, and they heard the same I did. So, maybe we both recall wrong? However, it is past beating this any further in my mind. As you stated, he addressed his behavior with his team. That is what is most important and ultimately those girls are the only ones he needs to account to. Best of luck to your team moving forward. I am sure we will have many more matchups through the coming year.
