How NOT to play soccer:

http://www.examiner.com/x-413-Seattle-Soccer-Examiner~y2010m7d28-Sounders-will-take-slim-10-lead-back-to-El-Salvador

Miss multitudes of scoring chances and allow the diving and stalling of the opponent to 'pay off.'

So the Islanders and Galaxy go back it on Wednesday (5:00 PM Pacific on FSN) in Puerto Rico.  Ya think the Islanders will be thinking a little defense.

After the way the Galaxy defense played today, if I were the Islanders, I would be thinking that the "Best defense is a good offense" and take it to LA.

Chris shared some behind the camera observations with Examiner about his recent trip to El Salvador...

http://www.examiner.com/x-413-Seattle-Soccer-Examiner~y2010m8d5-Following-the-Sounders-to-El-Salvador

Shortly after I entered the hotel lounge, a trio arrived: husband, wife and teenage son.  The teenager was wearing an old-school LA Galaxy jersey.  I noticed the jersey and asked if they were going to a soccer game.  All three gave me a look that was somewhat bewilderment and amazement.  I knew the Galaxy were playing on Wednesday night in Puerto Rico and thought that they may be passing through.  As it turns out, they were on the same flight from Houston to San Salvador as the team.  Upon arrival to San Salvador, the teenager garnered attention from some of the team and in particular, Tyrone Marshall.  Marshall was quick to point out that he was responsible for 1 of the stars above the Galaxy crest.  The family of three ultimately found themselves in conversations with the team and staff and were offered complimentary tickets to the match at Estadio Cuscatlán.

Missed chances, and a missed chance for three points in the group stage:

Seattle Sounders FC's CONCACAF Champions League group run got off to a bad start on Thursday night after Seattle fell 2:1 in Honduras to CD Marathon. The foe is considered by most to be the weakest of the sides Seattle will face in the group, and certainly the Sounders will feel at the end of the day that a win or a draw was possible with better possession and finishing.

That PK call was horrible. I've never see a ref give a PK when the defender had clear position and the forward comes from behind and jumps in front of a swinging leg to draw contact. Atrocious.

I was wondering if the refs were watching the same game I was with that call!

I've embedded the lastest Forever Football Show and one of their talking points is the Sounders in three competitions...

I would buy season tickets for MLS just for the opportunity to get tickets for these types of matches!

You can get tickets to these matches without season tickets! They are sold outside of the package!

Well, at least things are a bit simpler for the Sounders now.  They have only two competitions to focus on, instead of 3. evil
