BTW, after the month of October we should know just how good the older boys could be. Looks like a interesting month.

October 2010

GAME# Date Time Home MR Away Location
1671   Sat Oct 2 12:00 pm Seattle Sounders FC U-17/18 vs  Nomads SC U-17/18  Starfire Sports Complex
1673   Sun Oct 3 10:30 am Seattle Sounders FC U-17/18 vs  San Diego Surf U-17/18  Starfire Sports Complex
2091   Sat Oct 23 1:00 pm LA Galaxy U-17/18  vs  Seattle Sounders FC U-17/18 Home Depot Center
1405  Sun Oct 24  Chivas USA U-17/18  vs  Seattle Sounders FC U-17/18 No game info yet like time or field

Not sure these games will prove much of anything. Last seasons not very competitive Crossfire U16 team had 2 wins and 2 ties in these games against the U16s of these teams. Unless these teams are very different in terms of players  it may be big time domination by the Sounders.

I wasn't able to make it out to the sounders last scrimmage.  Do you know if they scrimmage at all this coming weekend?  Who do they play?

I talked with forward Dominique Dismuke of the Academy U-18's today.

The interview will be live on Examiner tomorrow (Friday).

Dismuke scored 9 goals in the USSDA last year while playing for Washington Premier FC.

http://www.examiner.com/soccer-in-seattle/sounders-fc-academy-features-forward-dominique-dismuke-opens-play-saturday

Playing the first-ever league matches will actually be a relief for the team, Dismuke confides. "The thing I'm looking forward to most about starting the season is getting some really good competition outside of our team."

Final from Starfire:  0-0.  My DK said however, a  2 or 3-0 Sounders victory would not have been an unfair result as the Sounders had more of the play and better chances.  Tomorrow v Surf.

Also, Nats will play Crossfire a few days earlier!

Did anyone attend the XFire U18 Academy game vs the US U17 National  team? I know Xfire lost 2-0.  Any thoughts about what you saw? Did Xfire sub liberally or did they "play to win"?

One of the "academy" teams played Tynecastle FC U-17 last night at Starfire.

High energy, extremely fast paced.  Final score 1-0 "academy" due to a PK.  Tynecastle held their own and did well during the game.

Isn't this academy situation former ODP?

Not sure I had who the other team was correct or if that team's connection is really an academy situation - i.e. renaming ODP Academy.  Will the youth players I saw in Sounders uniforms last night feed into the "MLS" Sounder's team?  I may not have understood the academy situation, but I think that is what happens.

Game ended 3-3.  National team scored in 90th minute to take the lead and Sounders got the tie before  stoppage time expired.

I am guessing that the team in the Sounders jerseys  was the U16  Academy team which is a part of the USSF Development Academy program. You can find all the info you need about the academy at USSF web site. You can find info about the Sounders Regional training programs/ODP at WSYSA site.
