Do you think X Fire, Timbers, and FC Vancouver playing up at U-12 will help them when facing top U-11 teams.

X-fire has a different situation than the teams from down south.  X-Fire could of found compeditive games at age up here.  Timbers and FCV could not of found anyone to play but each other.

I'm not familiar with where the Vancouver teams are playing and at what level.  For Crossfire, It would have helped IMO if they played at GT, but at GP (GE actually if you consider there are two GT div.) the level of play is about level with U-11 GT.  The U-12 girls are bigger and more physical, which helps, but also a step slower and with a tad less skill, again just my opinion.

I think Crossfire will be forced to adjust to a quicker, faster, more finesse game in Cup play.  The U-11 GT teams won't have to make that adjustment.

Vancouver teams can play in Oregon premier U-11 if they choose.

Xfire Porter will have their hands full at state cup.  They are a good team, but they will have to make an adjustment that some of the top U11GT teams won't have to make.

If you look at the GF and GA they are not scoring that many goals.. nor are many goals being scored on them!  They have a great goalie and a good defense, but their offense is going to have to step it up for State Cup Play!

Both goals they scored on us were on PK's  In a close defense battle in State Cup a game can come down to PK's  If so the girl they have taking the kicks could be a difference maker.

Also in our game with them they had only 2 shots on goal I think but only allowed 3 shots on goal.  The one that went in I am not sure Brianna Scurry could of stopped.  Our keeper took it off their forwards feet in the box about 7 or 8 times.

They have a mid who was as good as any player we have seen this year.

The one thing they will not get in State Cup is the big girl/small girl foul.  Our girls so out sized them that they went down on any contact with almost every foul on the girl still standing (including one of the PK's)  Playing girls at age and same size will take away this advantage.

While it is true that the U11 teams could play in Oregon, the problem comes in when girls are playing up a year.  I believe that both of the Vancouver teams have at least one girl playing up that would disqualify them from playing across the border. I think that the size difference and skill advantage of playing an additional year for the U12 girls proved to be the biggest challenge; this definitely toughened the girls up and brought their level of play up to a higher level.  Will it help in State Cup... that remains to be seen.

Dragon think the teams in U12 GP better then most people think (except couple of them) and the Porter gals will come out firing on all cylinders.  Dragon would not want to face them in my DD bracket

Don't forget about the U12 D1 teams.  3 teams from D1 are good enough to end up in the finals.  Porter gals should be favored to repeat. wink

Crossfire coaches coach too many teams to keep things straight in my (block) head. (is that block of cheese or head cheese.... )

All I know is they pretty much dominated U11 last year like the Royals are dominating this year......hmmmmmmm  I think I can see someone clearing a spot on the mantle for a little piece of hardware. wink

If Dragon not mistaken, Crossfire kick butt in tournaments, then take 3rd in GT (was using it as learning time).

And then kick major butt in Cup

Crossfire Shilporoot (or something like that) is definitely the class at U-12 this year.  They were the U-11 champions, but they did not dominate during season.  If I remember correctly they finished in fourth in U-11 GT last year.

Just goes to show you... the champ can come from anywhere!  Cheesy

I knew it started with a 'S' but also thought  that was an older team also...that's why I was confused with the names.
Having team names (rockets, ladybugs...etc) are a good thing and give a personality to a team.

Also makes my little brain handle it a little better wink

I agree with the Dragon on this one wink There is at least 2 and maybe 3 teams in U12GP that should be in GT. The year in U12 will help the U11 X Fire group.

We played and beat 2 of the teams that are in U-12 GT.  One 3-1 and one 5-0.  Do not under estimate the teams in GP!

21.51 post per day

BTW Cross Shill-somthing plays EFC Red this weekend in U-12.  EFC tied them last time.  Looks like EFC 11 and 12's both have good tough games this week-end.

Shocked The Xfire girls have had to learn that they can not just run by teams like they did in most of thier tournaments. Yes Crush beat them twice and Royals and EFC beat mixed squads of Pxfire and Axfire in friendlies. The girls at the U12 p are big and have a year of premier select play and coaching already and not one team wanted to lose or tie the little girls. They have speed, skill, and size. Do not think that they were a bunch of pushovers. Anavallen, Royals, EFC, the Eagles, the Thunder and all the rest have forced the xfire team to play more like a team. All are very good teams and we should not cheapen them and thier players. :!:
If xfire looses early then we will point to the fact that they played u-12 and not give credit to the team that beats them. If they win it all, the same thing will happen, saying they played u-12 and others will try and follow suit next year. The xfire girls have learned from the U12 girls and that is all that matters.  Cheesy

IMO, if this apporach works with xfire, you wil see a new wave of playing up.  If this trend continues to grow, I think in the long run, it will weaken the on age GT.  The u11 GT will now move up to u12GP and the u11GP will move to u11GT and so on.

Dragon want to make main point of team playing up (talking bout Porter gals).

Teams like Royal, Crush, EFC seem to have been having 2,3,4 tough games this year & rest blow outs    Is that good :?

While Crossfire has been having a "battle" every week.  None of the U12 teams want to lose to them. I think they have been challenged every week and have played the equivalent to Royal or Crush game almost everyweek.  Dragon opinion is this has been good move for X-gals.

If Dragon right or wrong we find out at state

I really do not question whether or not it was a good move for them.  I think they will benifit from it come Cup time.  My only question is if it is a trend everyone wants to see started?

Is it an advantage for XFire Amy to play at U-11 Having the majority of underage players? Yes, it will give all those girls the chance to play a more aggressive, faster, and a matured style of play, the XFire Porter, Timbers and FC Vancouver are experiencing the same thing.
With U-11 possibly going to 9 a side you will most likely see half of the U-11 teams playing U-12.

I dont think anyone is taking anything away from X-fire, they are a great team, very talented.  I merely am questioning what type of presidence this is setting for the future.  I am all for pressing our DDs as much as possible.  This will be the new trend and now the levels of play are all goofed up.
