First half - - - Xfire owned most of the half and scored 1-0 Second half - - - Play was more even. NWN scored... tied 1 - 1 Then, for a while NWN seemed to own the game.... outcome not at all clear... could have certainly gone either way. Crossfire played better in Ot than in 2nd half (although NWN still played very well). Xfire scored (with a few minutes left) on a tremendous effort of skill & determination by #14. Not so much boot ball.... both teams capable of passing it. Great effort by both teams. While Xfire's off to Hawaii, NWN can be very proud. |

I must say it really didn't matter to me who won this game since dd's team wasn't playing, but NWN #22 (I don't have a clue what her name is) had my attention the whole game and I ended up rooting for NWN!! This kid played with heart and fire the entire time and never gave up!! She earned my MVP vote today!! Great job NWN #22!!
Congrats Crossfire!!! Go represent!!!

BU15 Crossfire 2-WPFC 1
Not as many older boy fans here, but this was the 11:00 game after the NWN/Crossfire game. Someone already gave a good recap of that. The only thing I have to add is that there was not a dominant team, in my opinion. Two very well matched teams.
Recap of Bu15--Crossfire came out against defending state champs WPFC, with fabulous play. they were winning loose balls and moving to everything. WPFC looked flat by comparison. They went up 2-0 pretty quickly and deserved it. WPFC began to play their strength--passing the ball--and finally hit a rythym. In the last portion of the first half and in the second half they dominated play entirely, with multiple chances on goal.
This is from a ref/staff of this game, not a parent, but I had mixed emotions about this outcome. Crossfire scored when it counted and nothing can take that away, but based on the 80 mintues of play, they were not really the better team. In the Gu13 game, I feel that both teams were evenly matched. Here, not so. But that's why we play the game. I am now rooting for Crossfire to represent us well at Regionals, but am a little sorry that WPFC will not be there since they made it to the semis and lost only 1-0 there. But I am going to say Crossfire will do the same!!
Will be back to watch 3:00 and 5:00 games. Was off duty for 1:00 game, so looking forward to hearing about that.

Congrats Crossfire!!! Go represent!!! Gotta agree, this young lady really stood out today. To paraphrase Butch and Sundance "Who is that girl?"  I also must agree with RB. The effort and skill of Xfire #14 on the game winner was beautiful to see. Well done NWN. You should be proud. Congrats to Xfire. Represent us well in Hawai'i. :mrgreen: |

12, 10, 22 kicked major butt today for NWN. the whole team played great. 18 also caught my eye with her intensity. 6, 8, and 14 impressed for Cross in my eyes. i picked 14 to kick the game winner but thought it'd be in regulation. that kid can crank on a ball with the best of em. she'd been doing so throughout the match, but generally from midfield to forwards. when she was pushed up, i had a hunch and she sure delivered. Both feet ...very excellent. Must say NWN had a chance to win the match or at least go up 2-1 but the ball went high and over the keeper and crossbar....had it been kept down....also, a free kick from 22 yards or so just missed being hit on the sweet spot and didn't challenge the keeper. both could've changed the game result, but who knows. very fun game to watch no doubt! all the girls on NWN should be extremely proud of their play this year and in the cup and in this game in particular! I'm a NWN fan now and look to stay that way! cross played better iin this match I thought than in the semi. there was more purpose and intent in their touches. whether over the top direct, flick ons with foot or head, nothing seemed willy nilly and was to space or a player. much better display of execution for them I thought. very well played great officiating i think. interesting to sit in both fan sections for a while to hear perspective from both on certain calls or non calls. just glad cps don't have whistles, the game would be stopped more than go'd great match everyone! Well done. |
