To my WPS family, I hate to be the bearer of awful, horribly sad news...Edmonds55 died this weekend after a stroke!
Brian was a great guy and quite different than his wisecracking persona on WPS. He was the nicest man on the sidelines, complimentary of players and a very savvy student of the game. It is just terrible that this has happened. Condolences for the family and his young son Ben!
Maybe a fund can be established for the family to help in some small way....

My condolences to his family. This was bitter news for me to take, as I didn't know him personally, I enjoyed reading his posts with so much passion for the game, as well as his wisecracks. He will be greatly missed on this forum. My heart goes out to his family and I wish all the best for Ben and may he remember everything his father stood for and enjoy the memories of the time he shared with his father.

Oh my gosh, this is so terrible!!! I was just thinking about him the other day cuz he used to tease me on here, and I haven't seen any posts from him in quite a while.
All my prayers to his family, and let us know when and if a fund gets set up!!!

WOW Vin,
Who would have ever guessed something like this would happen.
He was one of the first posters on this site, one of my early favorites.
He will be missed by many. This is truly sad  My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time. Very very sad day indeed.

I didn't know Brian...but I enjoyed reading his posts very much. He was obviously an extremely passionate and intelligent man. His love for the game and particularly for his son was inspiring. He will truly be missed!!
May God hold Ben and Brian's family close at this extremely difficult time. Our family's thoughts and prayers are with you all! God bless you...

The words of Ed, to his buddy PvMS: "The New England Journal of Medicine reports that 9 out of 10 Doctors agree that 1 out of 10 Doctors is an idiot" These are the special things that will be missed the most. What really touches my heart, is he will be greatly missed by people like me, who never had the pleasure of meeting him.

Heart breaking news. My thought go out to the entire family. Maybe ,in the spirit of levity and eddy we can come up with a bit of a song thread... give me a day or two... I'll be back with one.
Won't be as good as eddy's though.............

What??? I am in shock! Just stood together a couple of weeks ago watching our boys play high school ball against one another.
As nuts as he made me, I always looked forward to his songs and poetry.

This is one of my many favorites .....when you and eddy used to battle back and forth OMG, Ed's is also Dragon!
Scary..........if it's true are you moving south? Whome, no I like WPS the best, I just go over to the SSP when boredom sets in, WPS is the best. What in the world are you talking about, Dragon? What is that all about? Addendum, I just found out why you were referencing Edmonds 55 to this "Dragon" character, as Lloyd Bentson was once quoted, " Sir, I served Edmonds 55, I know Edmonds 55, Edmonds 55 is Einsteinian, and a friend of mine, PvMS is no Edmonds 55." One can use Dragon or PvMS interchangably there if you will.

A classic dig vintage Eddie! RIP Brian  I truly enjoyed the transformation from a sort of love hate between the two of you to a friendship. It's amazing sometimes what this site has done for people. I will truly miss him.....I actually emailed him back when i started the site in order to make him aware because I loved his posts on standingsplus. I will miss him greatly.

I began a reply last night but couldn't express it very well.
Squash hit it briefly for me.
While I never met nor spoke with the man, it's clear he had a love and passion for the game. I was and am still struck by the apparent bond edmo and vms developed. It's a slice of what the soccer community/family and the wps family can be.
from a friendly rivalry, to one of respect and friendship............while still having a friendly rivalry. Like family, being able to say and do yet still be loved....unconditionally.
God Bless his family, and may his spirit live on.
R.I.P.

Dear Eddy, I will miss you. You had class and a great wit. Your arguments with vms were classic. The beautiful game is what you called it - I will miss you and your comments. I wish the best to your family and I am heartbroken over the loss. VMS - thanks for posting this. It is only appropriate that you announce this on WPS. Good Bye Eddy....

Eddy, I will miss your excitement and clever wit that you brought to this forum. It is amazing to me how you were able to dig and still do it with a smile on your face. And the relationship you had on this forum with VMS was better than a soap opera. The highs and lows, the feelings of victory and the sadness of defeat, the pleasure and love we felt through your words of watching your son play the beautiful game. You could truly feel the love for your family through your words and the friendships that were created because of communicating about soccer was huge. May God wrap his arms around your family during this tough time and may your friends and family truly enjoy remembering the happy times had with you. God Bless my friend.

This is so sad. I got to know Brian just a little when I was asking questions about HPFC, where I had a nephew trying out. He was so helpful and knowledgeable. He will sorely missed by his family, his friends and by the larger soccer community.
My favorite "Edmund-ism" was the infamous debates over NWN, EFC and later HPFC! Wow, he could dish it out with the best--and take it back as well. I remember him from the standingsplus days as well.

As for us her @ WPS we will miss the banter, the knowledge and the witty posts he brought. Many times I reading his posts I would find myself laughing out loud. Rest in peace our fellow poster!!

Eddy loved his son, he loved soccer, and he loved wearing his heart on his sleeve. He used humor and creativity to share those passions with us. I bet most of us identified with him when he was reporting though his special pair of rose-colored glasses. I would guess, because I never met him, that he gave the same devotion to every member of his family, and enjoyed his life greatly.
For Ben, I will say that losing a parent always happens before we are ready to say goodbye. I wish someone had told me this before I lost mine: they don't go as far away as you fear. You dad will visit your dreams, whisper in your ear, root you on in all that you do, and one day you will see a glimmer that will remind you of him in your own baby's smile. The memories may hurt now, but I know they will be a source of comfort in the future, and I pray that day comes soon.
VMS: a worthy adversary is a great friend, and all of us enjoyed the inspiration you gave each other.

RIP our FRIEND!!! You are one of the reasons Dragon and hundreds of others came to this site.... May the sunshine always be on your shoulders.... In your own immortal words: Thanks Squash, how about a little something from the late great John Denver with his new rendition of Sunshine on my Shoulder now know as Sumo Soccer Eastside......
Sumo soccer Eastside ain't too shabby, Sumo soccer Eastside won't make you cryyyyyyyy Sumo soccer Eastside isn't that ugly, Sumo Eastside, the Dynamo do denyyyyy.
If they had a play, that they could do they'd prove to you a play sure to go astray, When they do it wrong, well they have no clue, The Dynamo take their wrongs and get up a goal or two
Sumo soccer Eastside some may be flabby, Sumo soccer Eastside that's no lie Sumo soccer Eastside can it be lovely? Eastside pretty soccer, yeah when pigs flyyyyyyy
If they start to wail, they will tell you, they only wail, when the Dynamo start to smile, If they seem beguiled, and are captivated, the Dynamo play a game sure to fascinate and tantalize.
Sumo soccer Eastside ain't too shabby, Sumo soccer Eastside won't make you cryyyy. Sumo soccer Eastside ain't that uglyyyyyyy, Sumo soccer Eastside every time the Dynamo do deny, Sumo soccer Eastside can it be lovely, yes every time, when those swines do fly
Sumo soccer Eastsidddddeeeeeeeee.
a huge rd of applause for Mr. John Denver Love you bro! One of my only regrets in life is I never met you

I have been told by a friend who has known Brian for many more years than me that a College Fund has been set up for his children.
It is with the Community Healthcare Federal Credit Union in Everett the fund is set up as "Brian Wilmot's Children College Fund" account number 6777.
Please consider a donation! Thanks!! Vin
