COVER STORY & LATEST HEADLINES:WPFC BOYS 93 TEAM TAKE THE NATIONS CAPITAL BY STORM!!!
Here is a great story following the Boys in Black on their Successful trip to D.C.WA DC Story
The 93 Black Return from Washington DC Adidas MLS Youth Showcase Undefeated
The WPFC 93 Black finished 3 - 0 at the Adidas MLS Youth Showcase defeating BRYC Blackhawks of Fairfax, Virginia 5 - 0, Parsippany SC of New Jersey, and BW Gottschee, of Queens, New York 1 - 0.
The Showcase was held on the Campus of George Mason University in Fairfax Virginia. Friday the boys played the BRYC Blackhawks, the club hosts for the Showcase. After a hard fought first half, and a stiff breeze bringing the temperatures into the high 30's and low 40's, WPFC was up 1 - 0. With solid possession thru much of the game, the 93 Black proved too much to handle defeating the Blackhawks 5 - 0.
Friday evening the boys took in the sites of Washington DC, traveling by rail into the Downtown area, they visited the Washington Monument, and the Lincoln Memorial as well as getting a glimpse of the White House and the Smithsonian Museums.
Saturday morning the boy's 8:15 game was against Parsippany SC out of New Jersey. Even after a late night of sightseeing the boys were still up for the challenge with aggressive defense and solid possession throughout the whole game winning 2 - 0.
In the afternoon game the boys were originally scheduled to play Royals FC from Tennessee, but after a last minute scheduling change were matched up to play BW Gottschee from Queens, New York. BW Gottschee is a big physical team and dominated play thru the first 10 to 15 minutes of the game. WPFC answered with good defense and hard physical play themselves getting a few opportunities to score, but unable to find the back of the net. Finally with about 12 minutes left in the game WPFC scored the only goal of the game on a breakaway getting past the defense and sliding the ball under the diving keeper to a wide open goal for their 3rd win of the Showcase.
WPFC was one of 4 teams to go undefeated in the showcase out of 27 teams entered.
Sunday after getting checked out of the Hotel, the team traveled back to Washington DC and RFK Stadium for the Major League Soccer Championships between the Houston Dynamo and the New England Revolution. All the Boys and Girls teams playing in the Showcase had the opportunity to attend the finals and be on the field while the band Jimmy Eat World performed during half time.
After the game it was time to head to Baltimore to catch our flight home. Even though this was what seemed like a non stop 4 days, it turned out to be a great experience for the boys to play against some great teams on the East Coast and to see some of the sites of our Nation's Capital, an experience they will always remember.*for tons of great pix's and full article, please go to the following link*http://www.washingtonpremierfc.com/pdf/07_93blackshowcase.pdfHEADLINES!Out of State Fun for Several Washington teams!!! As we all know several teams went out of state this Thanksgiving. Dragon asked many times for all teams travelling to send in a write up/recap on their team and also send pix's. Only got a couple teams who sent in stories/pix to the Pulse. So great job to all teams that played in tournaments (Crossfire Megson BU11...Crossfire Porter GU13, and Columbia Timbers GU13). But a VERY special thank you to the two following teams that took the time to send us a write up/pictures!!!
CROSSFIRE AMY
...The Batgirls prepare to show Las Vegas how to play some great Wa Soccer! The Crossfire Amy team (aka the Batgirls) played their hearts out down in the "land of sin". Thank you so much coach for allowing one of your CP's to send the Pulse some Pix's and write up!
"Crossfire Amy's girls played with heart and fire in all four games. Although, their record was 1-win, 2-losses and 1-tie, Crossfire Amy dominated 3 of 4 games.
....One of the Batgirls clearing out the ball!On Saturday morning, Crossfire Amy came out pumped and ready to play the western region champions and host Neusport Tabagators. Crossfire Amy played an awesome first half and the score ended up tied 0-0 at half time. Crossfire Amy continued to play well in the second half, but unfortunately the Tabagators scored 2-goals.
...The LOC's rooting on the Batgirls in one of their games! Crossfire Amy congratulates FCSC Nemesis at the LV Turkey Shoots and thanks them for supporting us at the soccer tournament."
Way to go Batgirls, Dragon very proud of you!!!
NEMESIS 94
...The Nemesis (aka Lords of Cowtown) sporting their bling bling! The LOC's played their hearts out down in "sin city", and came back home with a great showing! Thanks to my friend for sending pix and doing a write up!
Well not sure what you wanted but here you go. We drove to LV from Olympia on Wed. We also took Alyssa (Rooster) from our team (along with LCC) to guest play with the nemesis team. One of the stops along the way was "dead mans pass" rest stop in Oregon because there was snow on the ground. Needless to say, you should not throw snow balls at the person driving you to vegas.
...the hapless players get pay back for the snow ball to the groin LOLWe made it to vegas on Thanksgiving in time to meet up with the team and enjoy a great dinner buffet style.
The next day the girls played their first game and even though they were a little nervous in the first game they pulled out a 1-0 win. After lunch back at the hotel the girls came out hard against one of the vegas teams and dominated winning 3-0 under the lights.
Saterday they played the tabagators second team and even though they gave up a goal, they completely controlled the tempo of the game winning 2-1.
In the semi finals the host team requested to change the brackets so two teams would not face each other in the same day. Nemesis wound up playing a team from new mexico called arsenal. It was a tough fight from start to finish. Again it was dark and windy and it was played under the lights. Ending 0-0, it went to pks in the wind. The girls buckled down and won during pk's 2-0 to send them to the finals against the regional champs who had just won on pk's too.
During the finals it was nice and warm with very little wind for the first time there. The Nemesis came out on the field playing with such passion it seemed the other team was caught off guard. After a couple of chances by each team the Nemesis scored first on a cross and volly. The girls (and parents) were all very excited, even the little fan on the sideline.
...Baby A'Cappella has a big smile when the nemi girls score first! The other team scored before the half to even the score 1-1. The nemesis girls never gave up though and there were times when our team dominated the play. with 6 minutes left Alyssa scored a header off a corner kick. The referee signaled a goal and the sidelines erupted. the tabagator coach started screaming at the referee that there was a foul. The referee looked at what the coach was pointing at and their really tall player was holding her head. The referee blows his whistle again and calls a foul and says it is a free kick for the other team. We were all shocked, and I have never seen anything like that in my life hahaha
Needless to say it went to pk's and the girls tried their best but fell short at the 10th kicker. At the award ceremony all of the tabagator parents looked very quiet and in shock. I think they knew in their minds they should have lost (imho)

wish we had more pictures to send, but I am not much of a picture taker. Our friend Barry took alot of them, and you can find them here is you wish-
http://eteamz.active.com/fcscnemesis94/ Thank you to all the girls that made LCC and Rooster feel at home with the team. They had a great time playing with such a wonderfull team. Go NEMESIS!
Thanks again to both Crossfire A. and Nemesis 94 for sending the write ups and pix! Great job to both teams!
NWEN invites you to learn about how the MLS is coming to your town! The Northwest Entrepreneur Network (NWEN) work to bring speakers and events to our membership that we think will be of interest to the entrepreneurial community. They work on lining up speakers for our monthly breakfasts where we have a local entrepreneur talk about their business and what they’ve learned.
We often have technology entrepreneurs but for our December breakfast we’ve taken a different tack and have reached out to the local sports business community.
NWEN lined up Adrian Hanauer to come and speak about how he put the ownership group together for his MLS bid, how they valued the opportunity in this region and weighed the franchise cost, etc.
This will be a really interesting talk and for anyone that loves the game, it will also be interesting to learn something about the business side of the game and about what is involved in bringing the “big leagues” to a market like Seattle.
This event does cost (all of the breakfasts cost), and it is early and it is on the eastside so those factors may rule out some. But NWEN thought that many on the WPS website might be interested in learning about this and, possibly attending.
Here is the link on the NWEN website where folks can go to and register:
http://www.nwen.org/index.php?option=com_events&Itemid=15&id=71COEVER TRAINING STARTS SOON!I am sending this release to the Pulse announcing an upcoming soccer academy being put on in Camas, WA by Coerver Coaching NW...I know most are familiar with them.

Should anyone have any questions about the Academy or Coerver Coaching NW, please contact TR Stoneback listed on the release--or Gary Chesnutis, at 360-335-0195.
There also will likely be an Academy starting up in January in the Seattle area...We will keep you posted!
STATE CUP DRAW!Dragon is happy to announce he will be at the upcoming state cup draw! Dragon invites as many people to attend as possible. This could turn out to be a great annual event and get together for all of Washington's soccer fans and CP's  Hope to see you there!
OUT OF STATE MADNESS!PAST"Turkey time tournaments"Here were the predictions Dragon did for the out of state tournaments for U13 girls:
NOMADS: After looking at the brackets Dragon see's No Reason that the Timbers should not run away with this one... The only team that may give them a run for their money is the Host team. Besides that, Dragon predicts gold for the gals from Cowtown! Ring those Cowbells CP's!!
Champion - Timbers Red Looks like a Colorado team took the crown over the team that beat Timbers in the Semi's  Thats ok, You girls rock anyway! THANKSGIVING SURF CUP:
As you can see the Home "A" team the Surf White Put our team in their bracket because they want to "win their bracket". So they are thinking Cross will be a walk over. It will up to the gals from Crossfire to prove them wrong.
The tournament also has Colorado's and Arizona's state champs in the mix, but doubt they will vie for the championship. It should come down to So-Cal Blues (#1 in the country in D's mind no matter what the ranking site's say) and Surf White or Real So Cal...
Champion - Blues RennieLooks like Dragon was dead on with this one...those sneaky Surf people...Great job though Batman gals! LAS VEGAS TURKEY SHOOT:
Think Both of the teams from Washington have a good chance to make it to the Semi's either as winner of their bracket or as a wild card....bad news is, this tournament belongs to the home team...
Champion - Neusport GreenAgain, looks like Dragon is dead on. Had no idea though that Nemesis would give them such a run for their $$$ For the past news and game scores go to our new
STANDINGS AREA. For recaps though, you know what to do....please look to our Recap thread for week #12:
http://www.washingtonpremiersoccer.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=6980and as always, If there is not enough blah blah blah there for you, then you only have

"COACHS CORNER!"This weeks topic for the coach is
"Holiday fun"
Hello everyone, I hope everyone enjoyed there thanksgiving break. I didn't recieve any questions over the holiday's so instead I will be covering a topic that has to do with this time of year, and I will keep it very short. I always have people ask me about holiday tournaments, both indoor and outdoor, and whether its acceptable if there daughter/son play for rival teams in the area. This is always a sensitive subject since this is the time of year that recruiting really starts to pick back up. My comments to them are simple, if your DD/DS wants to play and has the day open then let them go have fun. Especially at those young ages. This is a good time of the year to spend time with family and have some fun. Lets remember parents this is just a game. It's supposed to be fun, if your child is no longer having fun then maybe you should re evaluate the team they are on, the coach they have, or perhaps even the sports they are doing.
"VIEW FROM BEHIND THE WHISTLE"Myths of the Game and other Nonsense
A simple question...in a game today...we were on the attack. We lost the ball to the defender...defender was double teamed and kicked the ball back to the keeper on a drop (keeper called for the ball)...keeper then picked it up with her hands inside the 6 yard box...defender was playing inside the 18. What should it have been called. Several people said direct kick...several said PK...what should it have been?
Thanks, I enjoy answering questions and hopefully adding to everyone’s enjoyment of the game.
A keeper can never be called for Handling in their own Penalty Area. However, they are restricted from touching the ball with the hands when received directly from a kick (with the foot) of a teammate. The infringement is punished with an Indirect Free Kick at the spot of infringement.
Below is something I wrote for Dragon on the “pass back” myth that addresses your scenario:
That was a passback ref!
There is no “passback” rule and nothing wrong with passing the ball to the keeper. However, there is a restriction on the goalkeeper’s use of the hands if the ball is deliberately kicked by a teammate towards a location where the keeper can legally use the hands.
The infringement occurs only if the goalkeeper uses the hands on a ball received from a deliberate kick by a teammate. It does not require that the ball be “passed back” from a teammate.
It is NOT an infringement for the keeper to use the hands on a ball received from teammate who deliberately played the ball using any other part of the body, or a misplayed kick or deflection.
The infringing goalkeeper is penalized with an indirect kick for the attackers at the spot of the infringement, except if within the goal area the ball is placed at the six yard line closest to the spot of infringement.
The purpose of this change in Law 12 was to reduce time wasting, not for the referee to play “gotcha” with the keeper.
"Dear Eggy"Dear Eggy,
My DD's grades are starting to fall and we are trying to help her realize that family and school come before u-12 soccer. Any help?
CP DadDear CP
Funny you should ask Eggy this. The first thing that I recommend when grades slip is the removal of the cell phone. That seems to do the trick. Most companies will cut off text messaging for you. Want to see a kid go into convolutions? cut off text.
I have seen players sit out practices and study on the sidelines work. Ask parents on the team if they will help with some tutoring until the grades come up.
I do not reccomend pulling kids from group activities (sports, scouts etc.). This not only hurts your DD, but also all the other members.
Get involved with your DD teachers. Find out what is going on in the classroom. You will find that you, the student, and the teacher all want success.
Eggy
"My 2 cents worth...The Posters Voice!"
so you think your all that
Can you believe some of these U11 teams that think they are all that? Their parents are dellusional and need a swift kick in the arse. Grow up you morons, your son is tomorrow's has-been. Oh, and get off your high horse, you are NOT the best team around!

THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO MMMMMMMMMMMMMM?"Black Knights U14 Prediction Challenge!"Should return next week with some more action and the winners!
